  • LAW 10/98 OF APRIL 21 ON WASTE: The Waste Law, in its articles 27 and 28, regulates the environmental aspects of contaminated soils, providing that the Government, after consulting with the Autonomous Communities, will determine the criteria and standards that allow the evaluation of the risks that they can cause to human health and the environment, depending on the nature of the soils and their uses.
  • The Royal Decree 9/2005 of January 14 establishes the list of potentially soil-polluting activities and the criteria and standards for the declaration of contaminated soils. This decree sets forth the criteria and procedures to determine when soil is contaminated and specifies the activities that may lead to soil contamination, as well as the criteria and standards for the declaration of contaminated soils.
  • Object and Scope of Application:
It establishes a list of activities capable of causing soil contamination, as well as setting criteria and standards for the declaration of contaminated soils.
  • Situation Report:
Upon the entry into force of this Royal Decree on January 18, 2005, with its publication in the BOE, all affected companies are required to submit to the Competent Authority of the corresponding Autonomous Community, within a maximum period of two years, a preliminary situation report. Upon examining this report, the corresponding Autonomous Community may request more detailed supplementary reports, data, or analyses to assess the degree of soil contamination.
  • Affected Companies:
All those that carry out potentially soil-polluting activities (Annex I of the RD); companies that produce, handle, or store more than 10 tons/year of substances included in RD 363/1995 and/or those with fuel storage for their own use according to RD1523/99, ITC MI-IP03 and MI-IP04, with annual consumption exceeding 300,000 liters and a storage volume equal to or greater than 50,000 liters.

Industrial Cleaning

ACEGES is able to perform industrial cleanings, both for hydrocarbons and chemical products. For this purpose, we use vehicles with mixed suction-impulsion effect by vacuum pump, experienced personnel, fixed and/or mobile scaffolding, gas extraction systems, electric resistance heaters, as well as the necessary safety measures for these types of operations (autonomous breathing systems, explosion-proof materials, etc.). The works that ACEGES is able to perform include cleanings of:

  • Hydrocarbon separators.
  • Aboveground tanks.
  • Underground tanks.
  • Lines and pipelines.
  • Cisterns.
  • Exchangers, etc.
  • Tanks and industrial facilities.
  • Hard-to-reach installations.

Special Actions

ACEGES has specialised technicians with extensive experience in these types of operations. Noteworthy are the actions carried out in the transfer of transformer oil, as well as the removal of water generated in electrical substation fires. Operations have also been conducted for fuel oil cleanups due to spills in breakdowns. Other significant actions include the management of FIBROCEMENT PLATES, including the TECHNICAL REPORT, dismantling, encapsulation, treatment, and waste management. Actions for spills and/or emergencies include:

  • Control:
In the event of an emergency caused by an accidental spill, ACEGES responds with a rapid response time aimed at gaining control of the situation as quickly as possible. It is essential to locate the precise location of the necessary equipment to prevent the contamination from spreading and getting out of control (containment barriers, absorbents, etc.).
  • Extracción de contaminantes:
Once the containment elements are in place, ACEGES proceeds with the deployment and optimization of the appropriate equipment for the extraction of contaminants (pumping trucks, separators, chemical reagents, etc.).
  • Remediation:
Once the contaminants have been extracted, the necessary operations will be applied to restore the altered environment (replanting vegetation, restoring soil, fauna, etc.).
  • Surveillance and Control Plan:
To ensure complete decontamination, it is necessary to maintain control over the affected area. To achieve this, ACEGES conducts visual inspections and takes samples to verify it.

Special Performances

ACEGES has specialized technicians with extensive experience in this type of operations among its staff. It is worth mentioning the performances carried out in the transfer of transformer oil, as well as the removal of water generated in fires at electrical substations. Operations have also been carried out to clean up fuel oil spills due to breakdowns. Other performances of special relevance include the management of FIBER-CEMENT SHEETS, including the TECHNICAL REPORT, dismantling, encapsulation, treatment, and waste management. Spill and/or emergency response performances include:

  • Control:
In the event of an emergency caused by an accidental spill, ACEGES reacts with a quick response time that leads to controlling the situation in the shortest time possible. It is essential to locate the precise position of the necessary equipment to prevent contamination from continuing its course and getting out of control (containment barriers, absorbents, etc.).
  • Contaminant Extraction:
Once the containment elements are in place, ACEGES proceeds to arrange and optimise the appropriate equipment for contaminant extraction (pumping trucks, separators, chemical reagents, etc.).
  • Remediation:
Once the contaminants have been extracted, the necessary operations will be applied to restore the altered environment (replanting vegetation, soil restoration, fauna reintroduction, etc.).
  • Surveillance and Control Plan:
To ensure complete decontamination, it is necessary to maintain control over the affected area. To achieve this, ACEGES conducts visual inspections and takes samples to verify them.
